Serum Cotinine, Serum F2-isoprostane and Risk of Metabolic Syndrome in Adult Male Tobacco Users

Data on risk of metabolic syndrome among various forms tobacco consumption in Myanmar users are currently limited. The present study aimed to determine and compare nicotine metabolites serum cotinine, oxidative stress marker F2-isoprostane adult male users, find out relationships between these parameters syndrome. This cross-sectional was done 30 45 years old males: 84 cigarette smokers, cheroot smokers betel quid with chewers. Metabolic defined by National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III definition. Serum cotinine concentration significantly higher than that (p=0.026), however, no significant difference seen chewers (p=1.000), (p=0.248). (p=0.001) chewers, but observed (p=1.000).
